Cobb Hill Estate, Harrisville, New Hampshire

Weddings tell the story of two people, two completely different stories, backgrounds, cultures and memories, joining together forever.

Maya and Alex shows that love, understanding and meaning matter most.

Maya and Alex’s wedding at Cobb Hill Estate felt like a celebration from the moment guests arrived. Nearly two hundred friends and family gathered in the mountains of New Hampshire, dressed in colorful Indian formal wear, filling the hillside with movement, laughter, and anticipation. The view stretched across the Monadnock region, the landscape opening wide behind the ceremony space as the day began to unfold.

Before the ceremony, smaller moments offered a glimpse into the traditions that would shape the day. Maya’s hands, decorated with intricate henna designs, moved through the light as she prepared. The details of her jewelry and dress carried a richness of texture that felt deeply tied to the cultural traditions guiding the celebration.

Their ceremony blended meaningful Indian wedding traditions with the mountain setting surrounding them. Beneath a floral arch overlooking the valley, Maya and Alex exchanged garlands during the varmala, a joyful moment where friends lifted them into the air, laughter spreading through the crowd as each tried to place their garland first.

Indian weddings are filled with rituals that carry meaning through generations. During the ceremony, family blessings, the placement of a necklace, and the moment of touching elders’ feet created pauses that connected the couple to their families and traditions. Watching these moments unfold, it became clear that the ceremony was not just about Maya and Alex, but about the families and histories that had brought everyone there together.

At one point, family members gathered around Maya’s grandmother, who remained seated while relatives surrounded her with smiles and laughter. It was a moment that captured the spirit of the day, honoring the people who have shaped a family while celebrating the next chapter beginning.

When Maya and Alex walked back down the aisle together, guests tossed flower petals into the air as cheers echoed across the hillside. The mountains behind them stretched out beneath the afternoon sun, the ceremony giving way to a celebration that felt open and joyful.

Throughout the evening, that energy continued to carry the day forward. Friends spun together across the grass, colorful fabrics catching the warm light as dresses moved through the air. The celebration felt alive everywhere you looked, guests moving between conversation, dancing, and shared laughter. It’s what we imagine a wedding should be – a blend of scenes that we interpret as “meaningful, fun, transitional and celebratory”. They had it all.

Later, Maya and Alex stepped away briefly for portraits overlooking the landscape. The small cabin nearby and the wide horizon beyond it created a quiet contrast to the movement of the day. For a moment, the celebration slowed, giving them space to take in everything that had just unfolded.

Photographing weddings like this on film brings a certain depth to the story. Film captures color and texture in a way that feels tangible, from the patterns of formal clothing to the changing light across the mountains. It allows the atmosphere of the day to remain present within the images themselves.

By the end of the evening, what remained was the feeling of a celebration that brought together traditions, families, and cultures in one shared space. Maya and Alex’s wedding was filled with movement, laughter, and meaning, a day shaped by the people who gathered around them and the traditions that carried the celebration forward.
